On a winter evening in 2003, I experimented painting on flat glass for the first time and discovered a new way of expression. Glass is an interesting canvas, allowing reflection, transparency, opacity and images that become light and floating under certain light conditions.
Under certain light conditions the images become floating, light, they escape reality.
Technique : acrylic paint that is usually baked on the glass at 160°C and also aerosol paints, lately also pigments and binders.
For my lamps I use mirror plated glass and remove the mirror from the glass by abrasion.
By pressing and separating glass plates fractals can be obtained such as above. Fractals bring my passion for mathematics into my paintings. That passion I got from late professor Raymond Goethals when I was a student in Ghent.
